Here is a list of topics for workshops that we tried out at the other forum (http://cgpainting.com/front-desk/how-cgpainting-com-came-to-be/0/) and was quite successful. Think of these topics as warm up topics, before we get into the flow of regular workshop topics.
Here is a list of seven topics, and some notes to help you get started.
Hibiscus Flower - Use digital painting medium to draw/paint a hibiscus flower. With this short workshop, we will concentrate on the light and colors, with out worrying much about the form - as hibiscus flower is a pretty generic shape, but still has some definition with which we can study the light and colors.

Human Eye - Use digital painting medium to draw/paint an eye. With this workshop we will be looking in a little more detail at light, colour and form. This workshop will also help you learn how deal with light-reflecting surfaces, such as the cornea.

Your own eye is often a good place to start, but here are a few more references that might help you:

Fruit - Use digital painting medium to draw/paint a fruit.
I do not think I need to give references for this. You are free to choose any fruit you are comfortable with. And Google Image Search (http://images.google.com/) will provide you with enough references.
Blade Weapon (Sword, Katana, Saber) - Use digital painting medium to draw/paint a blade weapon. Choose any blade weapon like sword, katana, saber, battle axe, or any thing you can imagine that has a cutting edge and can be used as weapon. Let your imagination run wild!
Again, I will not give any references. This workshop, along with aiding in improving the painting skills, will also hone the creativity.
Mushroom - Use digital painting medium to draw/paint a mushroom. Draw a solitary mushroom from the Wonderland of Alice, or a mushroom forest growing on the rotten remains of a battle that took place not too long back.

Butterfly - Use digital painting medium to draw/paint a butterfly. Draw a butterfly resting on a flower or one that is flying about.
Reference: Google Image Search (http://images.google.com/)?
Boat - Use digital painting medium to draw/paint a boat. Or something like that. A simple boat should suffice, but you can go Moby and draw a raft, or draw an elaborate battle ship if you got time on your hands.
This workshop should help you draw in-organic subjects that have definite forms.
How do you participate in these workshops?
Choose one topic, and post it in a separate thread. Post the link here. (I will update the link on this main thread).
Browse through the WIP threads of others, and give constructive criticisms.
Note that this is a a workshop "from the past". I will commence to post regular workshop topics soon.
Special thanks to davincio (http://cgpainting.com/profile/?u=6) for giving this suggestion (http://cgpainting.com/forge/need-something-to-paint/0/).
